Kedzie Avenue Scrapbook comes to Comfort Society in Logan Square

Illustrated Press On ‘The Kedzie Avenue Scrapbook’

Members of Illustrated Press are on deck for the next round of speakers at Comfort Society, a series of summer talks at the Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave., sponsored by Intelligentsia Coffee.

The group will talk about their process and show work from their upcoming book, Kedzie Avenue, a full-length graphic novel about Chicago’s history through present-day interviews and art from a single street. Illustrated Press is a multimedia production collective based in Logan Square that uses detailed illustration, sequential art and traditional journalistic reporting to engage and explore city life from the ground up. Comfort Station

Kedzie Avenue will be published by Curbside Splendor in early 2016. More work, including the ongoing Kedzie Avenue Scrapbook, can be found on the Illustrated Press website: The group’s work has been featured in publications such as the Chicago Reader, the Atlantic’s CityLab and The Nib, among others.

The Illustrated Press is a collective of journalists and artists founded in 2011 by journalist and photographer Darryl Holliday and graphic designer Erik Rodriguez. Chicago-based illustrator Jamie Hibdon joined the group in 2014 and the great comics journalism triumvirate was complete.
